EXPERT tips: WHAT TO WEAR FOR YOUR BOUDOIR PHOTO SHOOT

I often find myself in deep conversations with my clients about what truly makes a boudoir session shine. The simple answer is: THEM.

However, I know that some great wardrobe can really help a boudoir client feel beautiful and prepared. And so, for me, the answer is different for every client. She should be selecting the right boudoir photography outfits that suit her individual sensual style. The right pieces not only boost your confidence but also highlight your best features and set the perfect mood for your shoot.

Whether it’s classic lingerie, playful bodysuits, or everyday clothing with a sensual twist, choose what makes you feel pretty, comfortable and at ease. It’s also OK to step outside your comfort zone if you’re not used to wearing lingerie. Many clients have never even worn it before! We consult and plan accordingly.

Planning your boudoir wardrobe can be such an empowering experience! I encourage you to explore styles, colors, and fabrics that resonate with who you are. Imagine adding something personal (Some clients bring a partner’s shirt!) or a cherished accessory to your look—this session is all about celebrating your unique beauty and expressing your “sensual individuality.”

In this guide, we’ll dive into various boudoir fashion options, from sultry lingerie sets to elegant robes and even everyday clothes with a sensual edge. I’m here to help you feel confident and beautiful in front of my camera, infused with a touch of fashion, style and luxury.

Beyond Lingerie: Exploring Other Boudoir Outfit Options

Remember, lingerie isn’t your only option for boudoir sessions! Everyday items can add authenticity and comfort to your photos. Classic button-down shirts, soft sheer fabrics, off-shoulder sweaters, and oversized cardigans can create a cozy yet seductive looks. Mixing these with lingerie or thigh high stockings can deliver a one-of-a-kind look.

Wearing Button-Down Shirts for an Effortless, Sensual Look

Lightweight button-downs in silk or chiffon (or even his!) provide a relaxed, alluring vibe. Leave a few buttons undone for a hint of mystery, or wear it off-shoulder for that flirty touch. Pair it with lacy underwear or a garter belt for an additional layer of sensuality.

Incorporating Jackets, Blazers, and Cardigans

Layering adds depth to your boudoir look. A fitted blazer over a lacy bralette or push up bra creates a sexy, empowered fashion aesthetic, while an oversized cardigan worn alone radiates intimacy. Don’t shy away from experimenting with textures and lengths to flatter your figure.

Embracing Personal Style with Jeans, T-Shirts, and Accessories

Incorporating your everyday style into your shoot can be incredibly fun and sexy. A simple white cropped t-shirt with jeans can feel strikingly sexy when posed with confidence. This really shows off some your natural effortless boudoir looks beauty without overpowering your beautiful SELF.

Using Robes, Veils, and Sheets for Added Intrigue

Robes, veils, and sheets can add layers of mystery to your photos. A sheer or lacy robe creates a tantalizing silhouette, while a strategically placed sheet can offer a nude illusion without revealing too much. I love to pose for movement, and these elements to play with varied poses and moods.

Feeling comfortable and confident is key to a successful boudoir shoot. Explore options that reflect your unique personality, mixing everyday pieces with traditional **_boudoir_** attire to create a look that truly represents you.

It’s not about dressing for SIZE it’s about dressing for flattering shapes when it comes to Plus Size Boudoir Looks. Please do not try and buy items that “hide” your body. In fact, we can often work better showing MORE skin than less.

Styling Tips for a Successful Boudoir Photoshoot

Selecting the right outfits will really help you feel confident during your boudoir photo session. Here are some styling tips to ensure your boudoir photo shoot is a success.

While black and white remains a classic choice, don’t hesitate to embrace jewel tones or pastels to showcase your features and skin tones.

It’s best to avoid fluorescent colors, as they can be truly harsh on camera.

Whatever you choose, select pieces that reflect YOUR personality and boost your confidence.

The two piece bra and panty set AND bodysuit silhouettes remain as favorite lingerie piece among my clients.

What Not to Wear for a Boudoir Photo Shoot

When planning your boudoir wardrobe, certain items are best left behind:

  • Avoid anything that feels too tight or restrictive, as comfort is key to capturing your genuine beauty.

  • Steer clear of flashy logos or busy patterns that might distract from your lovely self.

  • Avoid fishnets as they are difficult to Photoshop.

  • Baby doll styles are not super flattering to all body types, but if you love them by all means wear it! Just ensure it is sheer and has cute panties that flatter the tush.

  • Giant oversized sports jerseys are not flattering. If you’re going for sports make it fitted, cropped and not OVERSIZED. Otherwise, use it as a prop and not an outfit.

  • Lastly, skip the overly complicated pieces that you’ll struggle to pose in. THIS INCLUDES: LACE UP CORSETS, overly structured non-bendable pieces, seamed-back stockings, too high platform

  • No chunky heels

THINK: Classic, sexy, timeless, and some simplicity…These are often what brings the best results.

Ultimately, MY PHILOSOPHY on boudoir photography is this is about celebrating YOU as an individual. YOUR beauty and confidence is different than anyone else’s. And no matter your age, size, or shape you will look incredible. By carefully selecting outfits that make you feel comfortable and reflect your personal style, you’ll create stunning, empowering images that highlight your beauty.

Whether it’s classic lingerie, flattering bodysuits, or cozy outfits like oversized sweaters, the options are truly endless.
